I graduated from Hattiesburg High School in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I started my college career at Mississippi State University. I also attended Blinn College in Bryan, Texas. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology with a minor in Animal Science. After moving to San Antonio, I attended classes at The University of Texas at San Antonio and received my teaching certification.  My Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Instructional Technology was obtained from Houston Baptist University.

This is my 25th year teaching at Kingsborough Middle School. I began as a Special Education teacher focusing mainly on students with reading difficulties. I began teaching Dyslexia classes twenty-two years ago. I have taught all levels of reading from struggling readers to gifted students. I have taught College Readiness classes, I even taught an ART class. This year I am teaching Dyslexia and ARI classes.

We will be using the Dyslexia Intervention Program (DIP.) This program provides intensive reading instruction for students significantly below grade level.  It helps students make rapid gains in reading and writing.
